In the retirement home in Altmünster, which was built in 1974 and completely renovated and extended in 2002-03, around 10-15 units are permanently unoccupied. What forms of new housing can be conceived here and for which target group? Can further underutilized potential areas be identified and considered in the existing building? How can these ideas be incorporated into a larger concept that takes into account the undeveloped neighbouring plot and the infrastructural proximity to the kindergarten? What could synergies between the “old” and the “new” look like – old and new residents, existing and new buildings, concept inside and outside in the entire town – and how should these be spatially formulated? For Altmünster, the aim is to think “on the living body” (during the upright and tangible operation) the existing building far into the future and to design an innovative living concept.
